Narayan Bohaju

12 Apr 2026 0 comments
Narayan Bohaju is a contemporary visual artist from Bhaktapur, Nepal. His practice is rooted in observation, drawing from everyday objects and environments to construct compositions that reflect the rhythms and realities of urban life.
He completed his Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Banaras Hindu University in 2012 and his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Kathmandu University in 2009. His academic background has informed a practice that remains grounded while open to experimentation.
Bohaju’s work often focuses on objects encountered in daily life items found in streets, markets, and domestic spaces. Arranged into compact compositions, these elements carry subtle narratives, reflecting both personal observation and broader social conditions.
Through this approach, his paintings move beyond representation, offering quiet reflections on time, place, and the changing nature of everyday experience. His work remains attentive to detail, where ordinary materials become carriers of meaning.
He has presented his work through solo exhibitions and group platforms in Nepal and India, alongside participation in workshops, residencies, and collaborative art initiatives.
Alongside his studio practice, Bohaju has been actively involved in art education. Since 2012, he has worked as a visiting faculty member at Kathmandu University, contributing to both the Department of Art and Design and the Department of Architecture.
