Sabita Dangol | Contemporary Visual Artist

11 Apr 2026 0 comments
Sabita Dangol is a Kathmandu-based visual artist working across painting and performance. Her practice explores intimacy, duality, and human connection through a distinctive visual language that moves between figuration and abstraction.
She completed her Master’s degree in Fine Arts (Painting) from Tribhuvan University and has since developed a body of work that is both conceptually focused and visually recognisable.
Central to her work is the recurring motif of the comb. Through repetition, pattern, and gesture, this everyday object becomes a symbolic form, used to construct narratives of relationships, emotional entanglement, and continuity. Her compositions often depict couples, where personal experience is translated into layered and reflective visual forms.
Her paintings balance decorative rhythm with psychological depth, creating works that feel both structured and intuitive. The interplay between abstraction and figuration allows space for interpretation while maintaining a strong visual identity.
Alongside her studio practice, Sabita Dangol has developed an extensive body of performance work, with over twenty solo performances since 2013. This parallel practice expands her exploration of presence, body, and interaction beyond the canvas.
Her work has been presented through solo exhibitions and international platforms, contributing to her growing presence within contemporary art contexts in Nepal and beyond.
